The Premier Forum for Battery Technologies for Electric Vehicle Manufacturers

Welcome to the Electric Vehicles BATTERY TECH JAPAN 2021 Exhibition and Conference where electric vehicle battery technology innovators will meet with leading automotive manufacturers to explore new battery technologies and battery management systems for use in next-generation electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles.

The world's fleet of electric vehicles grew to over 5 million units last year. Within a decade, there will be enough electric cars on the road for every person in Japan, as global electric vehicle ownership is estimated to reach 125 million units by 2030. China posted the largest electric vehicle growth rates followed by the United States, with electric vehicle exports more than doubling from the previous year.

Spurred by policies that encourage drivers to purchase clean-running cars, the uptake of electric vehicles is still largely driven by the policy environment, as the top 10 leading countries in electric vehicle markets all have a range of policies to promote electric cars with the US, Europe, and China being the biggest takers. For China, credits and subsidies will help EVs grow to account for more than a quarter of the car market by 2030. Meanwhile, tightening emissions standards and higher fuel taxes in Europe boost electric vehicles.

The development of battery technologies and battery management systems relies on the latest in research and design, manufacturing processes, and technical know-how to develop robust and reliable electric components to support the next generation of electric vehicles. While overall battery costs are falling, government policy remains critical to making EV & HEVs attractive to drivers, encouraging investment, and helping carmakers achieve economies of scale.

This year’s BATTERY TECH JAPAN 2021 is set to become the world’s leading exhibition and conference exclusively for battery technology innovators and manufacturers, to meet and collaborate with a large array of automotive manufacturers, and to examine new methods and technical know-how to address the specific challenges associated with extending battery life for next generation electric vehicles.

Key topics on this year’s agenda include:

  • Electric vehicles economic outlook and industry forecasts
  • Exploring new battery technologies and battery management systems
  • Latest research in extending battery range for electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles
  • New manufacturing processes and technical know-how to achieve economies of scale
  • Upcoming regulations and safety standards for the electric vehicle market
  • Manufacturer case studies on electric vehicles design and development

This exhibition and conference will provide a forum for all stakeholders across the electric vehicles battery supply chain; from suppliers and service providers to equipment manufacturers for the automotive industry to network and build cross-market relationships and to discuss the real challenges and opportunities in extending drive range and battery life to meet the needs of electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles.
